This Ultimate Buffalo Chicken Dip Stuffed Bread Bowl is the same creamy, spicy, addictive dip you love, but baked inside a hollowed-out round loaf of bread. The bread soaks up all that buttery buffalo goodness while it bakes, and the whole thing becomes this gorgeous, pull-apart masterpiece.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded (rotisserie chicken works great)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened (full-fat works best)
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce (Frank’s RedHot recommended)
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing (or blue cheese dressing)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (sharp cheddar adds more punch)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 large round loaf of bread (sourdough or Italian bread works best)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (or 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the bread bowl: Using a sharp knife, cut a circle about 2 inches from the edge of the top of the bread loaf. Cut at an angle to create a lid. Remove the top and set it aside. Hollow out the inside of the loaf, leaving about 1 inch of bread on the bottom and sides. Tear the removed bread into bite-sized chunks and place them on the baking sheet around the bread bowl.
  3. Make the garlic butter: In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with the minced garlic. Brush the inside of the hollowed bread loaf and the cut side of the lid with this mixture.
  4. Toast the bread: Place the bread bowl and lid on the baking sheet. Bake for 5-7 minutes, just until the butter is absorbed and the bread starts to crisp slightly.
  5. Make the dip filling: While the bread toasts, combine the softened cream cheese, buffalo wing sauce, and ranch dressing in a large mixing bowl. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  6. Add the chicken and cheese: Fold in the shredded chicken, 3/4 cup of the cheddar cheese, and 3/4 cup of the mozzarella cheese. Reserve the remaining cheese for topping. Stir until everything is evenly distributed.
  7. Fill the bread bowl: Spoon the dip mixture into the toasted bread bowl, packing it in gently. Sprinkle the reserved cheddar and mozzarella on top.
  8. Bake the stuffed bread bowl: Place the filled bread bowl back on the baking sheet (with the bread chunks still around it). Bake for 15-18 minutes, until the dip is hot and bubbly and the cheese on top is melted and golden. If the bread starts browning too quickly, tent it loosely with aluminum foil.
  9. Add the finishing touches: Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with sliced green onions and fresh parsley if using. Place the lid on top at a slight angle for presentation.
  10. Serve immediately: Use the toasted bread chunks and the lid pieces for dipping.

Notes

Don’t over-toast the bread bowl—stick to 5-7 minutes. Room temperature cream cheese is non-negotiable for smooth texture. Shred your own cheese for best melting. For a lighter version, use reduced-fat cream cheese and Greek yogurt instead of ranch dressing. To keep bread from getting soggy, brush with garlic butter before toasting.
