A quick and easy 5-minute drink combining juicy watermelon, fresh mint, lime juice, and a touch of sweetener for a refreshing summer beverage.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups seedless watermelon, chopped into cubes
  • 1012 fresh mint leaves, washed and gently bruised
  • Juice of 1 medium lime (about 2 tablespoons)
  • 2 cups cold water
  • 12 tablespoons honey, agave syrup, or simple syrup (optional)
  • Ice cubes, as needed for serving

Instructions

  1. Cut about 4 cups (around 600 grams) of seedless watermelon into cubes, focusing on the red juicy part.
  2. Gently crush 10-12 fresh mint leaves with your fingers or a muddler to release their oils.
  3. Squeeze fresh juice from one medium lime (about 2 tablespoons or 30 ml), avoiding seeds.
  4. In a blender, combine watermelon cubes, bruised mint leaves, lime juice, and 2 cups (480 ml) of cold water. Blend on high for 30-45 seconds until smooth. Pause and stir if using a regular blender.
  5. Taste the mixture and add 1-2 tablespoons (15-30 ml) of honey or agave syrup if additional sweetness is desired. Blend briefly to mix.
  6. Optional: Strain the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher for a smoother texture.
  7. Serve chilled over ice cubes, garnished with a sprig of fresh mint or a lime wheel.

Notes

Bruising the mint releases essential oils for better flavor. Use ripe watermelon for best sweetness. Adjust sweetener and lime juice to taste. Serve chilled and consume within 24 hours for best freshness. Frozen watermelon can be used if thawed slightly. Straining is optional depending on preferred texture.
