A quick and easy summer drink combining fresh blueberries, mint, lime, rum, and sparkling water for a refreshing and colorful mojito twist perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries (about 300g)
  • 20 fresh mint leaves
  • ½ cup fresh lime juice (from 45 limes, about 120ml)
  • 1 ½ cups white rum (about 12 fl oz / 360ml)
  • ½ cup simple syrup (about 120ml)
  • 1 cup sparkling water (about 8 fl oz / 240ml)
  • Ice cubes, enough to keep the pitcher chilled
  • Optional: lime slices and extra mint sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place the fresh blueberries and mint leaves into a large pitcher. Using a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon, gently press down to bruise the blueberries and release the mint oils without pureeing.
  2. Pour in the freshly squeezed lime juice and simple syrup. Stir gently to combine and taste; add more syrup if desired.
  3. Add the white rum to the pitcher and stir again to blend all ingredients.
  4. Fill the pitcher about halfway with ice cubes, then top off with sparkling water. Stir gently to mix without flattening the fizz.
  5. Garnish with lime slices and mint sprigs. Pour into glasses filled with ice, including some muddled fruit and mint in each. Serve immediately.

Notes

Muddle blueberries and mint gently to release flavors without turning into mush. Use fresh lime juice for best taste. Add ice just before serving to avoid dilution. Stir sparkling water gently to keep fizz. Garnishes add aroma and visual appeal. For vegan or sugar-free versions, substitute simple syrup with agave nectar or stevia. Non-alcoholic version can be made by omitting rum and increasing sparkling water.
