These mini American flag charcuterie cups are a light, fresh, and festive snack perfect for 4th of July gatherings or summer picnics. They combine fresh fruit, creamy cheese, and savory meats in a visually appealing, handheld format.

Ingredients

  • Mini clear plastic or glass cups (about 3 oz capacity)
  • Seedless cucumber slices or mini crackers
  • Fresh strawberries, hulled and thinly sliced (about 1 cup)
  • Cherry tomatoes, halved (optional)
  • Cream cheese or whipped ricotta (4 oz)
  • Fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini), halved (optional)
  • Fresh blueberries (about ½ cup)
  • Fresh basil leaves or mint
  • Honey or balsamic glaze (optional)
  • Thinly sliced cured meats like prosciutto or salami (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash all fruit and herbs thoroughly. Slice strawberries thinly (about 1/8 inch thick) lengthwise. Halve cherry tomatoes if using. Slice cucumbers into thin rounds or prepare mini crackers to fit at the bottom of each cup. Set aside fresh mozzarella balls and blueberries.
  2. Spread about 1 tablespoon (15 g) of cream cheese or whipped ricotta evenly on top of each cucumber slice or cracker inside the cups.
  3. Place 2-3 thin slices of strawberry horizontally across each cup, covering roughly one-third of the surface. Add halved cherry tomatoes alongside if using.
  4. Add a layer of thinly sliced mozzarella halves or small dollops of cream cheese between the strawberry slices to mimic the white stripes of the flag.
  5. Fill the upper left corner of each cup with fresh blueberries, packing them gently to represent the flag’s stars.
  6. Garnish with small basil or mint leaves around the edges. Drizzle a tiny bit of honey or balsamic glaze over the top if desired. Optionally, add rolled thin slices of prosciutto or salami beside each cup.
  7. Place the assembled cups in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes to let flavors meld and keep everything crisp and fresh. Serve cold or at room temperature.

Notes

Use a sharp knife for thin, even slices to maintain the flag effect. Soften cream cheese slightly if too hard to spread. Chill assembled cups before serving to meld flavors and keep fruit crisp. Add blueberries and herbs just before serving if preparing ahead to avoid sogginess. Substitute ingredients as needed for dietary preferences.
