This fluffy snow ice cream with sweetened condensed milk is a quick and easy winter treat that captures the magic of a snow day. Made with fresh snow and simple pantry staples, it’s creamy, nostalgic, and perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups fresh, clean snow
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt (about 1/8 teaspoon)
  • Optional mix-ins: sprinkles, chocolate chips, crushed cookies, fresh berries, chocolate or caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Collect your snow: Wait for a fresh snowfall and scoop up the top layer of clean snow into a large bowl. Fill with about 8 cups of loosely packed snow. Place the bowl in the freezer while you prepare the other ingredients.
  2. Prepare the condensed milk mixture: In a small bowl, combine the entire can of sweetened condensed milk, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until smooth and well combined.
  3. Take the snow out of the freezer. It should still be light and fluffy.
  4. Pour the condensed milk mixture evenly over the snow.
  5. Fold gently using a rubber spatula or large spoon, starting from the bottom and bringing it up and over. Fold gently for about 30-45 seconds until incorporated, being careful not to deflate the snow.
  6. Check the consistency: The ice cream should be thick, creamy, and scoopable, like soft-serve. If too wet, add a little more snow; if too dry, drizzle in a tiny bit more condensed milk.
  7. Serve immediately in bowls or cones. Add optional mix-ins on top or fold in very gently at the end.
  8. Optional: If there are leftovers, transfer to a freezer-safe container, press plastic wrap onto the surface, and freeze for up to 2 hours.

Notes

Use fresh, clean snow from the top layer of a recent snowfall. Avoid snow near roads or trees. Work quickly and gently to prevent melting. The condensed milk should be at room temperature for easier mixing. For best texture, serve immediately.
