A quick and easy weeknight dinner featuring tender salmon fillets coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic glaze, roasted alongside asparagus on a single sheet pan. Ready in under 30 minutes with minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each, skin-on or skinless)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium; tamari for gluten-free)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 bunch asparagus (about 1 pound, woody ends trimmed)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for asparagus)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (for asparagus)
  • Optional: lemon zest or extra lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a sheet pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, 1 tablespoon olive oil, lemon juice, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside.
  3. Rinse asparagus and pat dry. Snap off woody ends where they naturally break. Place asparagus on the prepared sheet pan, drizzle with 1 tablespoon olive oil, and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Toss to coat and spread in a single layer on one side of the pan.
  4. Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Place them on the other side of the sheet pan, leaving space between each piece.
  5. Brush the honey garlic glaze generously over each salmon fillet, reserving about one-third for later.
  6. Roast for 12-15 minutes, depending on thickness (13 minutes for 1-inch thick fillets). Salmon should be opaque and flake easily; asparagus should be tender-crisp with slightly charred edges.
  7. Remove from oven and brush reserved glaze over the hot salmon.
  8. Let rest for 2-3 minutes before serving. Garnish with lemon wedges or chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

Pat salmon dry for better browning. Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure roasting rather than steaming. For even cooking, tuck thin ends of fillets under if needed. Salmon is perfectly cooked at 145°F (or 140°F if resting). Leftovers keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat in a 350°F oven for 5-7 minutes.
