A lighter version of the classic buffalo chicken dip that’s creamy, spicy, and perfect for game day or any gathering. Made with Greek yogurt and reduced-fat cheese, this dip is just as indulgent but much healthier.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz canned chunk chicken breast, drained and shredded
  • 8 oz reduced-fat cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup reduced-fat sharp cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
  • 1/2 cup reduced-fat mozzarella cheese, freshly shredded
  • 3/4 cup Frank’s RedHot Original sauce
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp celery salt
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh chives or green onions
  • 1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese (optional)
  • Celery sticks, carrot sticks, cucumber rounds, or baked tortilla chips for dipping

Instructions

  1. Drain the canned chicken and shred it finely using two forks or a hand mixer.
  2. Soften the cream cheese by letting it sit at room temperature for 20 minutes or microwaving for 15-20 seconds.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the shredded chicken, softened cream cheese, Greek yogurt, white vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and celery salt. Mix until smooth.
  4. Stir in the Frank’s RedHot sauce until fully combined. Adjust heat to taste.
  5. Fold in the shredded cheddar and mozzarella, reserving about 1/4 cup of each for topping.
  6. Spray the inside of a 2-3 quart crockpot with nonstick spray. Transfer the mixture to the crockpot and spread evenly. Sprinkle reserved cheese on top.
  7. Cover and cook on LOW for 2-3 hours or on HIGH for 1-1.5 hours, until bubbly and hot.
  8. Switch to warm setting. Garnish with chives and blue cheese. Serve with dippers.

Notes

For best results, use freshly shredded cheese and room temperature cream cheese. Avoid overcooking to prevent graininess. The dip can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 24 hours before cooking.
