A quick and simple chocolate fudge recipe made with just three ingredients: sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, and butter. Perfect for a fast homemade treat that is smooth, rich, and addictive.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (14 oz / 396 g) sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups (340 g) semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons (28 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line an 8×8-inch (20×20 cm) baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy fudge removal. Set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan over low heat, add sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, and unsalted butter. Stir gently but constantly to avoid scorching, for 5-7 minutes until smooth and glossy.
  3. If lumps remain or chocolate isn’t fully melted, keep stirring over very low heat. Avoid overheating; mixture should never boil. Keep temperature below 115°C / 240°F if using a candy thermometer.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
  5. Pour the fudge into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula to about 1 inch (2.5 cm) thick.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or until completely set and firm.
  7. Use the parchment overhang to lift the fudge out of the pan and cut into small squares. For clean edges, wipe knife with a warm, damp cloth between cuts.

Notes

Keep heat low and stir continuously to prevent burning. Avoid overheating to prevent grainy texture. Chill fudge fully before cutting for best results. Use a warm, damp knife for clean cuts. For dairy-free version, substitute butter with coconut oil and use dairy-free chocolate chips.
