A creamy, spicy buffalo chicken dip topped with a sour cream spiderweb design, perfect for Halloween parties. Quick to make with simple ingredients, it’s a crowd-pleaser that looks like you spent hours on it.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup cooked shredded chicken
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • Optional garnish: sliced black olives, green onions, or a plastic spider

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded chicken, buffalo sauce, ranch dressing, and 3/4 cup of the shredded cheddar. Mix until well combined.
  3. Spread the mixture evenly into a 9-inch pie dish or small baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of cheddar cheese over the top.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the dip is hot and bubbly around the edges.
  6. While the dip bakes, spoon the sour cream into a small piping bag or a zip-top bag. If using a zip-top bag, snip off a tiny corner.
  7. Once the dip is out of the oven, let it cool for 2-3 minutes.
  8. Pipe a small circle of sour cream in the center of the dip. Then pipe a larger circle around it, about an inch from the edge. Continue with one or two more circles.
  9. Take a toothpick or skewer and drag it from the center circle outward to the edge. Do this all the way around. Then drag from the edge back toward the center, connecting the circles.
  10. Place your plastic spider in the center (or use a sliced black olive). Garnish with green onions or extra buffalo sauce if desired. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, celery sticks, or pretzel bites.

Notes

Use room temperature cream cheese for smooth blending. Don’t overbake to avoid greasy dip. Make the spiderweb right before serving for best presentation. Double the recipe for a crowd and use a 9×13 baking dish, adding 5-10 minutes to baking time. Leftovers keep in the fridge for up to 4 days.
