quick candy apple Halloween cocktail - featured image

A quick and easy Halloween cocktail that tastes just like a candy apple, with caramel-vanilla warmth and bright apple tartness. Ready in under 5 minutes with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz vodka (preferably Tito’s or a clean, neutral brand)
  • 4 oz apple cider or unfiltered apple juice
  • 1 oz caramel sauce (thicker variety, like Hershey’s caramel topping)
  • 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
  • Ice cubes (enough to fill glass)
  • 2 tbsp caramel sauce (for rimming the glass)
  • 3 tbsp crushed graham crackers or cinnamon sugar (for rim)
  • Optional garnish: thin apple slice, cinnamon stick, or small pretzel stick

Instructions

  1. Prepare the rim: Pour 2 tablespoons of caramel sauce onto a small plate. On another plate, spread 3 tablespoons of crushed graham crackers or cinnamon sugar. Dip the rim of your glass into the caramel sauce, rotating gently to coat. Let excess drip off, then dip the caramel-coated rim into the crushed graham crackers. Set aside to set for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Fill the glass with ice: Add enough ice cubes to fill the prepared glass about three-quarters full.
  3. Add the vodka: Pour 2 ounces of vodka over the ice.
  4. Pour in the apple cider: Add 4 ounces of apple cider or apple juice slowly down the side of the glass to avoid disturbing the caramel rim.
  5. Add the caramel sauce: Drizzle 1 ounce of caramel sauce into the glass. Do not stir yet for a layered effect, or stir if you prefer uniform flavor.
  6. Squeeze in the lemon juice: Add 1/2 ounce of fresh lemon juice.
  7. Stir gently: Use a bar spoon or long spoon to stir 5-6 times, combining ingredients without over-diluting the ice.
  8. Garnish and serve: Add a thin apple slice on the rim, a cinnamon stick, or a small pretzel stick. Serve immediately.

Notes

Chill the glass beforehand to help the caramel rim set. Toast graham cracker crumbs at 350°F for 3-4 minutes for added depth. For a non-alcoholic version, replace vodka with sparkling water or ginger ale. For a bourbon variation, use 2 oz bourbon instead of vodka. The drink is best served immediately; the caramel rim will soften after about 10 minutes.
