A creamy, spicy, and tangy buffalo chicken dip that is perfect for Halloween parties or last-minute gatherings. This easy recipe uses simple ingredients like cream cheese, hot sauce, and shredded chicken to create a crowd-pleasing comfort food.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup Frank’s RedHot Original hot sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken breast, cooked and shredded
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) or set slow cooker to low.
  2. If using raw chicken, season with salt and pepper and sauté in a skillet over medium heat for 6-7 minutes per side until cooked through. Let rest for 5 minutes, then shred using two forks.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, hot sauce, and the butter-garlic mixture. Use a hand mixer on low speed to blend until smooth and creamy.
  5. Add the shredded chicken, sharp cheddar, and mozzarella to the cream cheese mixture. Stir gently but thoroughly until the cheese is evenly distributed.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a slow cooker or oven-safe baking dish. Spread evenly and sprinkle with extra cheddar if desired.
  7. If using an oven, bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and cheese is melted. If using a slow cooker, cook on low for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally.
  8. Remove from heat, garnish with sliced green onions, and serve immediately with tortilla chips or celery sticks.

Notes

Ensure cream cheese is at room temperature to avoid lumps. For a smoother texture, blend the cream cheese and hot sauce mixture in a food processor before adding chicken. Do not freeze this dip as the texture will become grainy. Can be assembled 24 hours in advance and refrigerated.
