A cozy fall charcuterie board with fresh figs, honey, and a perfect balance of sweet, salty, creamy, and crunchy. Inspired by a beloved Portland wine bar, this no-cook board is ideal for gatherings or a quiet night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 810 fresh Black Mission or Brown Turkey figs, halved
  • ½ cup fig jam or spread (e.g., Bonne Maman Fig Preserves)
  • ¼ cup good-quality local honey (e.g., buckwheat honey)
  • 8 ounces brie cheese (double or triple-cream), at room temperature
  • 6 ounces aged cheddar cheese (e.g., Cabot or Kerrygold), sliced into thin wedges
  • 4 ounces blue cheese (e.g., mild gorgonzola or creamy roquefort), crumbled
  • 6 ounces prosciutto (e.g., Prosciutto di Parma), thinly sliced
  • 4 ounces salami (e.g., Genoa salami or spicy soppressata), sliced into thin rounds
  • 1 cup mixed nuts (toasted almonds, pecans, and walnuts)
  • 2 cups crackers and bread (water crackers, rosemary crostini, sliced baguette)
  • Fresh rosemary and thyme sprigs for garnish
  • ½ cup dried apricots or dates
  • ½ cup Castelvetrano or Kalamata olives

Instructions

  1. Take brie and cheddar out of the fridge 30 minutes before starting. Halve the figs, slice the baguette into thin rounds, and arrange prosciutto in loose ribbons on a plate.
  2. Place small bowls on the board first: one with honey, one with fig jam, and one with olives. Leave space between them for visual balance.
  3. Place brie in the center-left of the board, cutting a small wedge out and fanning the pieces. Arrange cheddar wedges on the opposite side and crumble blue cheese in a pile near the brie.
  4. Drape prosciutto in loose, flowing folds around the cheese, making 3-4 separate piles. Add salami rounds in clusters.
  5. Scatter fig halves cut-side up in clusters around the board. Tuck dried apricots and dates between cheese and meat. Sprinkle toasted nuts in empty spaces.
  6. Fan water crackers in one section and rosemary crostini in another. Arrange baguette slices in a small stack or overlapping line.
  7. Tuck fresh rosemary and thyme sprigs around the board. Right before serving, drizzle honey over the brie and fig halves in a light, artistic zigzag pattern.
  8. Step back and check for empty spots. Tuck in extra nuts or dried fruit if needed. The board should look abundant but not crowded.

Notes

Let cheese and prosciutto sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before serving for best flavor. Warm honey slightly for easier drizzling. Don’t overload the board—leave about 20% visible. Leftovers can be stored: cheese in wax paper, meats in airtight container, figs in sealed container in fridge. The board can be assembled a few hours ahead; add honey drizzle and fresh herbs just before serving.
