A quick and easy homemade margarita with fresh lime and mint, perfect for cooling down on hot summer days. This cocktail combines crisp lime, cooling mint, and tequila for a refreshing twist on a classic.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz (60 ml) Tequila Blanco (100% agave, e.g., Espolòn or Patrón)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) Fresh lime juice (about 1 large lime)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) Triple Sec or Cointreau
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) Simple syrup (homemade or store-bought)
  • Ice cubes (for shaking and serving)
  • Coarse salt (for rimming the glass, optional)
  • Lime wedges (for garnish)
  • 810 fresh mint leaves

Instructions

  1. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip it into a small dish of coarse salt. Set aside to dry.
  2. Place 8-10 fresh mint leaves at the bottom of your cocktail shaker. Gently muddle the leaves to release oils without tearing them.
  3. Add 2 oz tequila blanco, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 1 oz triple sec or Cointreau, and 0.5 oz simple syrup into the shaker.
  4. Fill the shaker halfway with ice cubes.
  5. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until well chilled.
  6. Strain the cocktail into the salt-rimmed glass over fresh ice using a fine mesh strainer or built-in shaker strainer.
  7. Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim and a small sprig of fresh mint.

Notes

Gently muddle mint leaves to avoid bitterness. Use fresh lime juice for best flavor. Shake cocktail just before serving to keep it cold and fresh. Adjust simple syrup to taste if the drink is too tart or sweet. Salt rim is optional but recommended for classic flavor contrast.
