A quick and healthy sheet pan dinner featuring garlic butter glazed salmon and tender-crisp asparagus, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (6 oz / 170 g each), skin-on or skinless
  • 1 bunch asparagus (about 1 lb / 450 g), trimmed
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (57 g), softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Rinse and trim the woody ends off the asparagus stalks. Pat dry with a towel.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, fresh lemon juice, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well until smooth. Add red pepper flakes if desired.
  4. Arrange the salmon fillets skin-side down on a rimmed baking sheet, spaced evenly.
  5. Lay the asparagus around the fillets in a single layer. Drizzle asparagus with olive oil and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  6. Brush the garlic butter mixture generously over the salmon fillets and asparagus.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, checking at 12 minutes. Salmon should flake easily and asparagus should be tender but crisp.
  8. Optional: Broil for 1-2 minutes at the end for a slight golden top, watching closely to avoid burning.
  9. Serve immediately with fresh lemon wedges.

Notes

Use room temperature salmon for even cooking. Don’t overcrowd the pan to ensure crisp asparagus. Softened butter spreads better. Watch oven closely after 12 minutes to avoid overcooking. For dairy-free, substitute butter with plant-based alternative and olive oil. Leftovers reheat well when warmed gently.
